			<content:encoded><![CDATA[<p>The New Herring will soon arrive and the 2011 Oyster Bar Herring Festival will be started. We want you to be part of it. Please join us starting 6/7/2011 for about 3 weeks at The Grand Central Oyster Bar to enjoy the &#8216;silver from the sea&#8217;.</p>
<p>Herring lovers will enjoy the season for less than a month; the tastiest herring are the newly matured fish caught in late spring: the green, &#8216;new&#8217; herring.  The Herring is flown in by air-express daily to the Grand Central Oyster Bar from Scheveningen, The Netherlands, on the North Sea where the herring fleet makes its home. Not only will the Oyster Bar receive the very first herring shipped to the USA, but the cream of the catch, as well.</p>
<p>The Herring Festival will only last for about 3 weeks, starting 6/7/2011.</p>

Professional shuckers from across the country, including four-time champion Luis Iglesius, will vie for the championship and a $1,000 grand prize; the public will square off in the “Slurp Off” professional eating competition; <span id="more-1"></span>Aaron Bashy, executive chef at Pershing Square and Italian Master Chef Fabio Trabocchi will be among the celebrity chefs sharing their gourmet wizardry with the public; and author Rowan Jacobson and restaurateur/shucking champ John Bil, who will present “Oysters 101” seminar, musical entertainment, and face-painting for the kids are among the many highlights of the annual Grand Central Oyster Frenzy, all day, from noon to 6pm, at the historic Grand Central Oyster Bar.</p>
<p>In addition, 16 varieties of oysters from both the East and West Coasts will be on the menu during the “Bi-Valve Bonanza” at the famed eatery located “below sea level” at Grand Central Terminal. General Manager Jonathan Young and executive chef Sandy Ingber, the venerable “Bishop of Bi-Valves,” will host the festivities.</p>
