Grand Central Oyster Bar Postpones Reopening Until Week of September 20.
New York, September 3-Due to unforeseen operational issues, and delays caused by Hurricane Ida, the re-opening of the Grand Central Oyster Bar has been postponed two weeks until the week of September 20.
The latest delay is not COVID-related.
The return of the 108-year old historic seafood restaurant in Grand Central Terminal was originally scheduled for September 7, after a near-17 month shutdown caused by the COVID 19 pandemic.
“We feel terribly for all of our employees who have been working so hard to get ready to reopen, and for all of our patrons,” said President Janet Poccia, Executive Chef Sandy Ingber, and Vice President Mohammed Lawal in a joint statement. “It’s very disappointing for everyone, but we’ll continue to persevere.”
